Better Job interviews, enhanced personnel selection
Research suggests that companies typically lose at least 20% of their profits as a result of poor personnel selection, retention failure, and inefficient recruitment processes. Effective HR interviewing is a skill, but one that few recruitment panel members are trained for. At Sussex, ABS is pioneering research into effective ways of conducting job interviews, evaluating the fit between candidates and job specifications, identifying anomalies and deceptions in applicant CVs, and assessing fit of candidates to organisational culture. For example, we have developed interviewing protocols and training packages that have been shown in empirical tests to be up to five times as effective as existing HR interviewing methods in detecting false information in applicant CVs. ABS offers CPD training courses in HR interviewing aimed at both the occasional interview panel member and also HR professionals and others who regularly run recruitment processes.
